Nick: dude, creator, voter

I’ve created a sculpture that represents the three pillars of our democracy: Introducing EatFuckVote. The years will come and go but the three pillars will always remain the same! The three pillars rest on the earth, on the same earth we all share, the same earth we all have in common.

Everyone can appreciate the beauty of our country, it’s jaw-dropping and vast. The land has been a source of inspiration and sustenance for generations of peoples and that’s exactly why I’m writing this bio.

I love traveling through the plains, valleys, mountains and along the coastlines of this land, where there’s a freedom, a sublime solitude and space to imagine anything. It’s all there written in the landscape, the theatre of greatness.

This land holds us together as a people, as a nation, and as a democracy. I understand that we’re all in this together. We the people. To this day, on into my life, I trust and believe that people care for and respect one another. Perhaps I remain the naïve child I have always been. I believe we can solve problems and face our challenges, together. I believe that through our creativity, we can find solutions to even our greatest challenges.

I was raised in rural Illinois, near the town of Fithian. I lived on a farm, but wasn’t exactly a farmer, yet I was every bit as close to the land. That land is still who I am, and I take it with me everywhere I go. Like it was yesterday, I vividly recall the hot, humid, midwestern nights, watching the fireflies and listening to the crickets, inhaling the moist air on its journey to morning dew. I love that land and it inspires me.

My art is native to the love I have for this land and the respect for the freedoms I’ve inherited, and that is what I want to share.
